New Lexington police chief set to start in May

Angela Greene has been appointed the new police chief for the city of Lexington (City of Lexington)

The city of Lexington has appointed a new police chief.

Angela Greene will start as chief on May 10 after 20 years of law enforcement experience, according to city officials. Most recently, Greene served as the police chief for Portsmouth.

“I am ecstatic to become a part of the Lexington family, and for the privilege to lead the honorable men and women of the Lexington Police Department,” Greene said. “Working in partnership with our community, we will continue the successes in public safety that the city has enjoyed over the years, while elevating the levels of community collaboration and improving the quality of life for everyone.”

Greene is a New Jersey native and has a Bachelors’s Degree in pre-law and political science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is in the process of getting her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Old Dominion University. She is also a mother to two daughters and one son, who is a firefighter in Chesapeake.
