BLACKSBURG, Va. – UPDATE: Jan. 2, 2021, at 6:18 p.m.
Officers have cleared the scene of the incident on North Main Street and the road is now open, according to Capt. K.T. Brewster with Blacksburg Police.

Authorities said the person is still in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

Blacksburg Police arrest made who they said made delusional statements referring to explosive devices late Sunday morning.
At about 11:17 a.m., police responded to the 2100 block of North Main Street in regards to a suspicious person/incident.
Police said the person involved made “delusional statements” about explosive devices.
When officers arrived at the area, the person fled on foot, leading to Blacksburg PD calling in help from Virginia Tech Police Department, Christiansburg Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.
Authorities established a perimeter and the person was taken into custody about 2 hours later.
According to police, investigators with the VSP Explosives Unit responded to the scene to check the subject’s vehicle and the surrounding area.
This investigation is still ongoing.

Blacksburg officials confirmed that a suspect in Sunday afternoon’s suspicious incident on North Main Street has been taken into custody.
There will still be a continued police presence in the area and the road will remain closed as police continue to investigate the situation.

There is currently a large police presence in Blacksburg as police investigate a suspicious incident Sunday afternoon, according to the Town of Blacksburg.
Blacksburg Police confirmed that they are investigating the situation in the 2100 block of North Main Street.
Authorities have closed a road on the north end of town near the Woodbine subdivision.
Town officials ask that if anyone witnesses anything concerning to call 911 immediately.
