19-year-old dead after six crashes reported on I-81 in Pulaski County

Slick road conditions were a factor in the cause of the fatal crash

UPDATE - Dec. 16 at 2:10 p.m.

Police identified the fatal crash victim as 19-year-old Brannagan K. Locklear of North Carolina.

He was transported to LewisGale Hospital in Pulaski where he died from his injuries.

Authorities report that he was not wearing a seatbelt.

One person is dead after a series of crashes on I-81 in Pulaski County, according to Virginia State Police.

Around 7:30 a.m., a pickup truck was going north on I-81 when police said it slipped off the roadway. Authorities said no one was hurt. As troopers were responding to this crash, another crash happened nearby in the northbound lanes. No one was hurt in this crash, according to State Police.

Authorities say that at about 7:45 a.m., a single-vehicle crash happened on I-81 South at mile marker 94. One person involved in this crash died, according to Virginia State Police.

State Police said two other crashes happened shortly after the initial crash on I-81 South around the same mile marker.

Around 9:40 a.m., State Police said a northbound vehicle ran off the road and into a ditch near mile marker 49. According to State Police, no one was hurt in this crash.
