GILES COUNTY, Va. – UPDATE
Authorities have released more details about the man they took into custody in connection with the malicious assault incident in Giles County.
Brandon Cody Boggs, 41, of Pearisburg, was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.
He was arrested in connection to a shooting in the 2100 block of Guinea Mountain Road at around 11:38 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say deputies found Boggs shortly after 6 p.m. after a resident on Painter School Road called about a person on their back porch who matched his description, about one mile away from the original scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, Boggs was arrested without incident and is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond. He has been charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The victim was treated for a gunshot wound, and police say they were released from the hospital on the same day.

The Sheriff’s Office says Brandon Cody Boggs, of Pearisburg, is about five feet, five inches tall, and has blue eyes and brown hair.
Boggs is considered to be armed and dangerous, according to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Guinea Mountain Road at around 11:38 a.m. on Wednesday.
One person was taken to the hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home where the shooting took place, and a state police tactical team searched it, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Boggs was last seen on foot.
The Sheriff’s Office has outstanding warrants for Boggs for malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Virginia State Police is assisting with the search and investigation.
Anyone who sees Boggs is asked to call 911.
