One hospitalized after pedestrian crash in Campbell County

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. – UPDATE

A person is hospitalized after a crash Thursday morning and no charges are being filed, according to police.

At 6:48 a.m., Virginia State Police said they responded to a crash near the Sheetz on Wards Road.

Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing the southbound lanes when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle.

It was dark at the time of the crash and the driver was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian, according to police.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle was uninjured and no charges are being filed.

The crash remains under investigation.

A person is in the hospital after they were hit by a car Thursday morning in Campbell County, according to Virginia State Police.

Authorities say the crash happened around 6:40 a.m. near the Sheetz on Wards Road.

According to police, the pedestrian was taken to the airport by ambulance and then flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
