Police believe Henry County crash was a murder-suicide

Crash happened Friday morning in Ridgeway

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – State police continue to investigate after two people were found Friday morning with gunshot wounds in a crashed car.

Police believe it’s a murder-suicide.

First responders said the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Soapstone Road in Ridgeway, 2.5 miles north of Route 220.

Authorities arrived at the scene and found Nissan Altima, that had ran off the left side of the roadway, struck several trees and overturned, according to state police.

The crash investigation has determined a man and woman were shot prior to the crash and that the gunshots happened inside the vehicle.

Police said that a handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle, which is believed to be used in the incident.

Police identified the victims as Jalen Millner, 20, of Ridgeway, and Najada Joyce, 20, of Axton.

Joyce’s mother said that the two were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Police are still investigating a timeline of what happened.

The incident remains under investigation.
