GILES COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Giles County Sheriff's Office arrested an 18-year-old who they say broke into a local convenience store and stole multiple items.
The burglary happened at 6:41 a.m. Monday, September 7 at the State Line Market Convenience Store located in Glen Lyn.

Deputies said the suspect, later identified as James Edward Lester, 18, gained entry into the store and took multiple containers of cigarettes, among other items.
Store surveillance video showed him in the building shortly after 4 a.m. on September 7. Deputies said he was using what appeared to be an item of clothing to mask his face.
Lester arrived and left the store driving a U-Haul.
Deputies said at 5:47 p.m. Tuesday the McDowell County Sheriff's Office contacted Giles County investigators, saying they had detained Lester, who had been operating a U-Haul. McDowell deputies said they had received a tip from a resident who had seen the Glen Lyn break-in story on the news and thought that Lester may have been involved.
A search of the vehicle turned up several cartons of cigarettes, candy, and various other tobacco products. Deputies also located a hat matching the description of the one worn by the suspect on video surveillance. McDowell deputies subsequently arrested Lester for DUI.
After getting confirmation of Lester's physical description, Giles County Sheriff's Office investigators traveled to Welch, West Virginia to speak to him. Shortly after investigators spoke to Lester, warrants were issued in Giles County for two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny in connection with the State Line Market break-in.
Lester will be held in West Virginia until the extradition process is complete and he is brought back to Virginia to face charges.
