Advanced tool manufacturer coming to Danville, bringing high-paying jobs

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Thirty-five new, high paying jobs are coming to Danville.

Governor Terry McAuliffe was at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville on Thursday to announce that Kyocera SGS Precision Tools, Inc. will be locating its North American strategic manufacturing hub in Danville.

It will be located in the cyber park co-owned by the city and Pittsylvania County and represents a $9.5 million investment in the area.

"Advanced manufacturing and [Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing] and all the folks here in the Commonwealth of Virginia, that is our future," McAuliffe emphasized. "That is how we grow these communities, specifically these communities that have been hit hard by the loss of coal and tobacco and textile and furniture."

The company expects to be up and running in October.
