A Charlotte-bound flight made an emergency landing at Richmond International Airport Sunday afternoon due to maintenance issues.
Flight 5852, operated by Piedmont Airlines, was traveling from Newport News but was diverted to Richmond after experiencing a maintenance problem.

The flight landed safely with 47 passengers and three crew members on board. According to officials, the aircraft was taken out of service for inspection by a maintenance team.
No injuries were reported.
