USPS set to suspend regular mail deliveries on Jan. 9 for Jimmy Carter observance

U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed nationwide on Thursday (Jan. 9) in respect of a National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter.

USPS will also suspend regular package deliveries, with regular operation expected to resume on Friday, Jan. 10.

Carter, the 39th president and longest-lived U.S. executive, died on Dec. 29 at the age of 100.

Funeral services honoring his life and legacy have been ongoing since Saturday. Jan. 4 and will conclude on Thursday, Jan. 9. A National Funeral Service will also be held at 10 a.m. and you can watch it in its entirety on WSLS.
