GALAX, Va. – If you’re looking to add a new furry member to your family, today’s the day!
The Galax Carroll Grayson Animal Shelter is offering $5 adoptions on all dogs older than six months, but for Tuesday only.

The shelter says it’s at full capacity and the dogs that are currently up for adoption have been there for a month or longer.
“If you have been considering adopting one of these dogs, now is the time!! Adopting a shelter pet is life-saving for not only the one you bring home but for one that may be lost or abandoned. Every adopted dog and cat makes space for the next animal in need,” the shelter said in a Facebook post.
On Tuesday, the shelter is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
To an adopt an animal, you must meet the following requirements, according to the shelter’s adoption policy:
- You must be at least 18 years or older
- You must live in Galax, Carroll, Grayson or an adjoining Virginia county
