MT. JULIET, Tenn. – After this mix-up, you should take a bit of extra caution before handling a wild animal.
A Tennessee couple attempted to rescue a harmless kitten that ran up on their back porch on Friday, but it turned out to be a wild bobcat, according to True Rescue’s Facebook page.

In Mount Juliet, Tennessee, a couple saw a small kitten on their back porch and took it to True Rescue, an animal shelter, located nearby. When the couple got to the shelter and gave staff the kitten, they knew exactly what the “kitten” actually was: a bobcat.
The shelter is mainly for domesticated cats and kittens, but the staff still conducted an exam to ensure the bobcat was safe before transporting it to a wildlife rescue facility, Tenessee’s Walden’s Puddle.
According to National Geographic, bobcats are brown or brownish-red with a white underbelly and have long legs, big paws, tufted ears, and a short, black-tipped tail. Baby bobcats are normally raised in a den in a litter of one to six kittens, all of which usually remain with their mother for 9 to 12 months.
