Pet parents beware! The Food and Drug Administration has recalled select Freshpet dog food items over salmonella concerns.
The company is recalling the 4.5-pound bag of the ‘Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe’ with a sell-by date of 10/29/22, which can be found on the bottom and back of each bag.

The retail UPC Code, which can also be found on the bottom and back of each bag, is as follows: 627975011673.
Be sure to keep an eye on your dog if it has eaten Freshpet dog food recently. Signs of salmonella infection in your dog include:
- Lethargy
- Diarrhea or bloody diarrhea
- Fever
- Vomiting
- Decrease appetite
- Fever
- Abdominal pain
Dogs can also infect other animals or humans. If your dog has consumed the products and is showing the symptoms mentioned above, please contact your veterinarian.
Those who have the recalled product are urged to stop feeding it to their dogs and dispose of it immediately.
It’s important to note that no other Freshpet products or lot codes are impacted by this recall.
In addition, there haven’t been any reports of any illness, injury or adverse reactions in connection to the recall at this time.
