WATCH: Isaiah Brown’s family holds press conference

Attorney for the family of Isaiah Brown holds a news conference in Spotsylvania, VA. He reportedly survived being shot several times by a deputy who mistook his phone for a gun.

Last week, his family said he was in intensive care with 10 bullet wounds.

Relatives spoke with Washington TV station WRC about the shooting outside Brown’s home early Wednesday morning.

Brown was unarmed, they said, and they haven’t been given a reason why the deputy opened fire. The encounter was recorded by the deputy’s body camera, but state police said they won’t release it pending an investigation.

The ACLU of Virginia has demanded that any footage of the incident be made public immediately.
