Woman hospitalized after police say she hit tractor-trailer on I-81, trapped herself inside pickup

A woman is in the hospital after a tractor-trailer crash trapped her inside her car Friday morning.

Authorities say the crash happened on I-81 near mile marker 147 around 7 a.m. when a pickup truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer, trapping the driver of the pickup. 

The driver of the pickup, Loretta Blevins, 53, of Salem was wearing her seatbelt and transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 

Blevins was reportedly charged with reckless driving.

A tractor-trailer crash on I-81 in Roanoke County is causing delays. 

According to VDOT, the crash is around mile marker 147 on I-81 North. 

As of 8:00 a.m., the northbound right lane is closed and traffic is backed up for about 3.5 miles.Â
