DANVILLE, Va. – UPDATE
According to arrest warrants, two guns were bought three days before Sunday's deadly shooting and ammo was purchased the day before.
Police emphasized there is no evidence as of Thursday to link the guns and ammo to the homicide, but the case was still very much under investigation.
Antonio Burton, 21, was behind bars Thursday, charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
He was also charged with lying about his marijuana use on the application to buy two 9mm pistols last Thursday.
Danville Police Lt. Richard Chivvis said investigators don't know if those guns were used in Sunday's homicide.
"It takes time for the state lab to compare shell casings and bullets or projectiles that were recovered, so how all that plays in will take some time before we have that back. Eventually, it'll all come out in court," Chivvis said.
Burton was arrested Wednesday for lying when he bought the guns.
His arrest warrant says investigators knew from a previous encounter with him in December that he frequently uses marijuana.
Ladreka Brandon, 33, was also behind bars, charged with conspiracy to commit murder, and also faced an additional, currently unrelated, charge.
She's a felon who police say was seen on surveillance video buying four boxes of 9mm pistol ammo from Dunham's on Saturday.
"Detectives are following up on leads. There's more information that they're running down and more people they're trying to talk to," Chivvis said.
A third suspect, 20-year-old Justin Jones, was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder but had not been arrested Thursday.

Danville police have arrested two people and are looking for a third in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old.
Hakeem King died in what police believe was a gang-related shooting over the weekend.
Ladreka Shawnta Brandon, 33, and Antonio Lamonta Burton, 21, are both charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Police are searching for Justin Montel Jones, 20, who they say should be considered armed and dangerous. He will face the same charge.
All of the suspects are Danville residents.
Police are no longer looking for O'Bryan Daquan King. He has not been located, but police have discovered evidence that contradicted information from witnesses.
On Facebook, Hakeem King goes by the name Norfside Keem.
Police confirmed that Norfside is a gang that the police department has investigated in the past and police have had interactions with the 17-year-old before.
Investigators are still following up on leads and anyone with information should call police.
