ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE

Police believe the man found dead in the yard of a Roanoke home Monday morning did not die as the result of a criminal act.

This conclusion is based upon preliminary results from the Medical Examiner's Office.

The exact cause of death has not been determined, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE 

Authorities are investigating after officers found a man dead in the yard of a Roanoke home. 

Officers say they received a call for a person down in the 500 block of 16th Street NW around 8:30 Monday morning. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS. 

Roanoke Police are working with the Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
