Man in custody after Roanoke County standoff identified.

Police say he's 37-year-old Earl Pugh

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va.UPDATE:

Roanoke County police have identified the man who barricaded himself inside a home on Elbert drive as 37-year-old Earl Pugh.

Police say they're charging him with obstruction of justice in this incident.

Police were trying to serve a search warrant for him violating probation out of Chesapeake.

 

UPDATE

The man who had barricaded himself inside a Roanoke County home has been taken into custody after a standoff that lasted about four hours, according to Roanoke County Police Department. 

Tear gas was used to get the man out of the home, and no shots were fired. Authorities say there was no one else inside the home, and that the suspect and all law enforcement are officers are unharmed.

Neighbors were evacuated and the street was blocked off.  

Authorities say that police have responded to that home several times before for narcotics usage. 


A SWAT team and Roanoke County officers are currently on the scene of a standoff in Roanoke County, according to police. 

Officers say they were trying to arrest someone in the 1800 block of Elbert Drive on Thursday. 

When officers got there, the man refused to come out of the home and then barricaded himself inside. 

Additional police units and a SWAT team are on the scene attempting to negotiate with the subject.
