BLACKSBURG, Va. – “I can't even describe it. I am so excited to be a Hokie," said Zachary Kokoska, a student at Virginia Tech.
For the first time since 2005, Virginia Tech met its rival, West Virginia, winning back the Black Diamond trophy.
While students from freshmen to seniors are sharing in the excitement, it was the freshmen who were especially moved by the victory.
“The last 30 seconds of the game was just amazing to watch,” said Nicholas Schaefer, a student at Virginia Tech.
Students are confident in the games to come as the football season takes shape.
It was a great start to the season, and fans hope it’s the start of a renewed rivalry between the Mountaineers and Hokies.
