ROANOKE, Va. – Downtown Roanoke is getting a little sweeter.
A new chocolate lounge is now up and running at 123 Campbell Avenue.
Community leaders came together Wednesday to celebrate the grand opening of Altus Chocolate.
It serves everything from fondues and pastries to gelato and local coffee.
It doubles as a learning center, where people can learn about how chocolate is made.
Owners said they were deciding between Roanoke and Charlottesville, but chose Roanoke because of the growth downtown.
"There's a lot going on here, it's growing a lot, there's a lot of residents living in downtown as well as a lot of great attractions to bring people down here so it's very easy to start a business here because of all that's going on," Owner Carl Matice said.
Altus Chocolate started in Lynchburg. That's where the chocolate is made.
