Woman arrested for making fake 911 call stating infant was thrown over a bridge

GALAX

A woman is arrested for making a false police report that an infant had been thrown from a bridge over Chestnut Creek in Galax. It happened Saturday night.

According to Galax Police Chief Rick Clark, 28-year-old Amanda Sue Thomas from Montgomery County was arrested on the scene at South Main Street in Galax after she called 911 about the false incident.

Galax Police along with Galax Fire, Galax Grayson EMS, Baywood Search and Rescue and Lead Mines Rescue responded to begin a search of Chestnut Creek. 

Senior Police Officer Terry Woods was in charge of the investigation. During the search Police Officer Jerimiah Foutch was able to determine that the child was safe with grandparents in Montgomery County.

Sue was charged with public intoxication, making a false police report, obstruction of justice, two counts of possession of a schedule II Substance and possession of controlled paraphernalia.

 

Thomas was taken to the New River Valley Jail without privilege of bond.
