ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The final group of deployed Virginia National Guard Soldiers landed at Roanoke Blacksburg regional airport Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds of family and friends greeted the remaining Red Dragons home after a nearly 11 month deployment to Qatar.
In all, 450 Soldiers from the Lynchburg, Bedford, Lexington and Christiansburg areas completed the security mission.
"I've been looking forward to this moment for over 11 months. The first thing I wanted to do was find my wife and give her a big hug and tell her how much I love her," explained soldier, John West.
Soldiers from Missouri Army National Guard have taken over the security mission in Qatar.
