Police find and arrest Roanoke County man after chase

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Police have arrested 27-year-old Cory Hatcher, of Roanoke County, after he ran away from police Thursday morning.

Police found him in a wooded area near Roanoke Valley Cathedral.

Roanoke County Police say he either fell asleep or passed out in a vehicle at the Ready Mart, in the 8000 block of Gander Road. Police soon responded for a well-being check.

When police arrived Hatcher provided false identification and ran away. Police say he ran past Gander Mountain, across the interstate and ended up in a wooded area near Roanoke Valley Cathedral.

Police say he was in violation of a court order in Botetourt County.

Roanoke County and city police as well as Virginia State Police, U.S. Marshals collaborated in the search. A reported total of 30 officers and 2 K-9s were involved.

Police say Hatcher suffered minor scratches during the chase and charges in Roanoke County are pending.
