West End Walk connects kids with local law enforcement

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Kids in Roanoke will be getting the chance to connect with local police officers.

It's all part of Tuesday morning's West End Walk.

Officers will join children from the West End Center as they walk to the Grandin Theater to see a movie.

Center leaders say they want to give kids a break from the violence that's been nationwide.

"Just thinking about how something like that happened in our city and we still stayed united. If anything can bring people together and keep people united it's children," said McKinley Forrest, the fitness coordinator at West End Center.

The center wants to show children a united front between their parents, police and the entire community.

The walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
