BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - There's a lot of controversy surrounding plans for Liberty High School's future gym.
A new and improved gym is in the works for the school, but locker rooms, coaches' offices and a training room aren't part of that plan.

The gym was intended to be a competition gym to host regional, state and other big tournaments, leaving people upset.
"When we saw the sketch and saw this little rectangle with a glued-on triangle, it was very very disappointing," said Jim Messier, a parent.
Other parents in the Liberty Zone, like Sarah Mayhew, agree.
"The zone has been told for a long time that Liberty would be getting a new competition gym and I think it should be a competition gym," said Mayhew.
A new gym and middle school in the Liberty Zone are part of the reversion agreement in Bedford and would cost $44 million.
Martin Leamy, a Bedford County school board member, shared his concerns about the initial plans.
"What happens when a player injures himself or herself in that gym? They would have to be transported to the existing structure for treatment," explained Leamy.
He said the plans aren't definite and can change based on input from the public.
Staunton River and Jefferson Forest High Schools already have competition gyms.
