Two North Cross School students died in housefire

North Cross School Leaders have confirmed two of their students, Patrick and Logan McKinnon died Saturday morning.

"Our community is devastated by the news, our faculty and staff is working to support and comfort our students and the North Cross School Community during this difficult time." Rebekah Bradley the Assistant to the Headmaster said.

Bradley continued "counseling services will be available to students and will continue to be available throughout the week and longer if needed."

Patrick was as in the fourth grade and Logan was in Kindergarten.

Firefighters are still investigating what caused the fire.

It happened around 1:15 Saturday morning in the 7600 block of Mount Chestnut Road.

When Roanoke County Fire crews arrived they found the home engulfed in flames.

The fire had spread to the wooded area around the home.

Investigators said four adults and two children were taken to a local hospital, one of those victims is in critical condition.

Firefighters said they were told several family members were missing and may be inside.

"There were several victims around the house informing us there could be other victims inside we attempted to make a search inside before conditions deteriorated and we had to back out, Brian Clingenpeel, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Roanoke County Fire and Rescue said.

Fire crews said the home is completed destroyed damages are estimated to be around $250,000.
