(WSLS 10) - Tennessee Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is firing back after Virginia announced it would no longer recognize concealed handgun permits in Tennessee and 24 other states.
Attorney General Mark Herring assured Virginians that Tennessee and North Carolina would continue to honor Virginia permits.

However, Ramsey was quick to respond stating if Virginia doesn't restore its reciprocity agreement immediately, the Tennessee General Assembly will have to seriously reevaluate whether Tennessee can continue to recognize Virginia permits.
Ramsey issued a statement Tuesday night:
"Today's action by the Virginia attorney general was a clear and blatant attack on the gun rights of permit holders in Tennessee and 24 other states. The Democrat gun-grabbers cannot win the day in the state legislature so they resort to these kinds of undemocratic tactics to subvert the will of the people."
"Americans instinctively understand that more guns in the hands of the law-abiding means less crime. But the liberals just don't get it. Instead they insist on limiting the rights of the law-abiding while doing nothing to fight the real criminals. I have always said that it matters who governs. That fact has never been more clear."
"Unfortunately, actions have consequences. If Virginia doesn't restore its reciprocity agreement immediately, the Tennessee General Assembly will have to seriously reevaluate whether Tennessee can continue to recognize Virginia permits."
