Their co-workers say both made the newsroom come alive.

"We've been holding back tears today," WDBJ7 General Manager, Jeff Marks said on air this morning. "They were just out doing their job today."

Parker is originally from the Martinsville area and is a graduate of James Madison University.

"She just came across as a pro, as young as she was," said WDBJ7 anchor Kimberly McBroom. "She has done a wonderful job reporting and fill-in anchoring."

The WDBJ7 news team says Alison just turned 24.

Kay Norred, news director at WRBL says Alison was an amazing young woman who interned at WHSV in Harrisonburg during her time as news director there.

Norred says, "It was her dream to report for a station in her hometown. I am so glad she achieved that dream."

Parker was also participating in Dancing with the Valley Stars competition this year.

Ward was 27-years-old and a graduate of Salem High School.

"To know him was to love him," SHS Principal Scott Habeeb said. "His smile was the brightest; his heart was the biggest; his enthusiasm was the most contagious; his work was the hardest."

Jadhon said Ward recently told her he planned to get out of news and pursue another career path.
