WASHINGTON COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Six people were injured and Benhams Road was closed after a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon.
Virginia State Police said officers are investigating the crash that happened just after 3 p.m. on Benhams Road, just north of Goose Creek Road.

VSP said a 1993 Honda Accord driven by a 32-year-old Bristol, Tenn. woman, was headed north on Benhams Road when it crossed the center line and hit a southbound 2002 Ford Escape.
The driver of the Honda and her two daughters, 12- and 9-years-old, were taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. All three were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the Escape, a 34-year-old woman from Bristol, Va., was taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Her son and daughter, 10- and 16-years-old, were also taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. All three were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the crash was under investigation with charges pending. The road was reopened by 4:30 p.m.
