Grayson County School Board accepts the superintendent's resignation

GRAYSON CO. -  The Grayson County School Board officially accepted the school superintendent's resignation at a special meeting on Memorial Day.

Superintendent Kevin Chalfant handed in his letter last week amid months of controversy over the budget.

Chalfant had been with the central office for about three years. Since April, many concerned parents called for the resignation after talk spread of possible job cuts and school closures.

Those parents say they are pleased with this step, but they plan to keep working.

The school board says it has 180 days to hire a permanent replacement. Members hope to have a list of interim candidates by their next meeting.
