ALLEGHANY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Opening day for the Clifton Forge Little League is Saturday, April 25 and for the first time players will use a new field house built as a labor of love.

Last year's architecture students at Virginia Tech completed the design and construction of the field house.

Now, current students apart of the design/build LAB are working on two new baseball fields with dug outs and a press box.

Little League leaders say the design/build LAB students are making the goal of hosting state tournaments in the future a reality.

"With these additional fields [in Sharon] and in Clifton Forge I can only see brighter things," explained Gary Price, President of Clifton Forge Little League.

"For every age level there's a field to play on and so they can kind of work their way up all through one little league and play their whole childhood career here," said Casey Walker, design/build LAB student.

This is the fifth project architecture students have worked on in the Covington and Clifton Forge areas.

The two new fields are expected to be complete in the summer of 2015.
