ROCKBRIDGE CO. (WSLS 10) - The search for a missing Rockbridge County man was suspended Monday evening due to rain. 

On Monday, rescue crews said the search had become a 'recovery effort.'

Emergency Management Coordinator Robert Foresman said the search effort will resume Friday, at which time additional resources such as cadaver dogs and divers will be available to help. 

Rescue teams search for man missing in the Maury River in Buena Vista

Dive teams were looking in an area dogs last traced the man's scent. They say over the weekend the man's tackle box was found. 

The unidentified man, who is said to be between 50 and 55-years-old, went missing in the Maury River in Rockbridge County on Friday, April 10. 

Authorities say the man disappeared around 9 p.m. Friday after he and another man were attempting to cross the river on foot.It happened in Buena Vista near 21st Street, behind the hematite plant. Foresman said the river is pretty deep and can go as far as 20 to 25 feet.
