He wrote "Remember Me," a poem about a young man that is very patriotic and treasures his country's freedom.
"With a thankful heart for our veterans who answer the call of service for this great country of ours," Gerald said.
He wrote the poem in June, after seeing the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.
"The poem didn't come all at once," Gerald said.
He wrote the poem in parts and kept the pieces in his "Vision of Hope" box so that he doesn't forget his ideas, and his main message that freedom is not free. He wrote the poem because his twin brother Gene Greer served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
"I appreciate you so much," Gerald said to his brother. "Stay strong stay brave with courage renew remember you love for your country love one and all."
After hearing his twin brother recite the poem, Gene became emotional.
"This is so overwhelming for me, to have such a loving and caring brother," Gene said, all because his twin brother is showing appreciation for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
"I hope it touches the heart of these veterans out here," Gene said. "And the people who never served who doesn't know what its like to have your life taken away from you."
