RINER - The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors takes steps toward a possible expansion of the Riner rescue squad and fire department.
This week, the board commissioned a task force to look into the facility and its equipment needs. During the last several years, the rescue squad has grown from less than 20 members to around 50. The fire department is at a full roster of about 30 volunteers, and crews ran almost 600 calls last year.
