WSLS 10 employees are excited to place their gifts for the 15 angels they adopted under the Christmas tree for the Salvation Army Angel Tree program! (WSLS)

10 News is working for you to help our neighbors in need this Christmas. We are once again partnering with the Salvation Army for its tree Angel Tree program! In addition to highlighting the need and the generosity of our community through stories we’ve brought you, WSLS employees adopted angel tree tags for 15 local children.

In the Salvation Army’s Roanoke service area alone, there are more than 950 children part of its Angel Tree program this year.

We had so much fun shopping for our angels! Angel Tree has become a beloved tradition at 10 News. As in years past, employees brought in their presents and placed them under the Christmas tree at the station. The Salvation Army of Roanoke came to the station Tuesday to pick up the presents, and we all enjoyed helping load up their van!

Major Cristina Trantham with the Roanoke Salvation Army said the generosity of the community has been tremendous this season.

“It’s so much fun to have the van completely packed full of gifts. We are so grateful for everyone at WSLS who has come together to pack this van full of gifts for kids this Christmas,” Trantham said.

Distribution day is December 18th. Families will arrive at the Salvation Army’s Roanoke location to pick up the presents. They are looking for volunteers to help sort and hand out presents to families. If you would like to volunteer to help sort the presents or be there for distribution day contact the Salvation Army at (540) 343-5335,
