MEDFORD, N.J. – A helicopter crash at the Flying W Airport in Medford, N.J. has resulted in the death of country music star Troy Gentry.

It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey. The duo was scheduled to perform tonight at the Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford. Troy Gentry was 50 years old.
Details of the crash are unknown.
Troy Gentry's family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.
Gentry was one-half of the duo of the Kentucky-based group Montgomery Gentry.
The crash occurred around noon Friday. Two individuals were killed. Eddie Montgomery was not onboard the helicopter.
The Montgomery Gentry concert was cancelled in the immediate aftermath before the identity of the victims was released, LEX 18-NBC Philadelphia reported.
Gentry was best known for his song "Our Town."
The other victim's identity was not released.
