Hundreds come out to Radford elementary school event

Celebrating STEAM and creativity

RADFORD, Va. – About 1,000 people came out Thursday night for the annual Belle Heth Elementary School Family Maker Night.

The Radford school puts the free event on to highlight all the innovative teaching and learning tied into the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and maker initiatives.

"We had a wonderful turnout for our Family Maker Night at Belle Heth Elementary. We had activities that ranged from stop motion animation, human battleship, duct tape creations, wand making, cardboard weaving, and the Virginia Tech Baja team just to name a few.  It was a great family event," said Ken Keister with Radford Schools.

Chewbacca, Storm Troopers and other Star Wars characters even made it out.
