INDEPENDENCE (WSLS 10) - After a year of turmoil in Grayson County Public Schools, a new superintendent has been named for the system.
According to a release from the school system, Kelly Wilmore was selected as the next superintendent of Grayson County Public Schools by unanimous vote at Tuesday's school board meeting. He will begin picking up the pieces of a year of investigations over mismanaged funds, charges of embezzlement and repeated requests to the Board of Supervisors for additional funding - on December 1, 2015.

The release states Wilmore has more than 20 years of experience in education, most recently as the superintendent of Craig County Public Schools since 2013. Wilmore's other experiences include assistant superintendent, director of student services, principal, curriculum coordinator, athletic director, transportation director, teacher, and coach.
Larry K. Bartlett, Chairman of Grayson County School Board, said he believes Wilmore will be a great fit for the division.
Wilmore is currently pursuing his doctorate of education in educational leadership from Liberty University, with an expected completion date of this winter. He earned a master of education in K-12 leadership from Concord University, a bachelor of arts in middle education from LaGrange College, and a bachelor of arts in history from King College.
