COVINGTON (WSLS 10) - The SOL tests continue across Virginia. One school in Covington is reshaping math.
"We all stress at this time of year because it's a big part of how schools are accredited and how we're graded and that kind of thing," said Rob Bennett, the Jeter Watson Intermediate School principal.

The Covington school has been under warning for three years and Bennett says he hopes this is the year they can turn things around. The first year principal says reading and math have been concerns. He says there has been a gap between sixth, seventh and eighth graders when it comes to math. The school division has now hired more staff to make teaching math easier. They have also had professional development classes.
"We look at the data, try to see where the weaknesses are and then we offer remediation. We have tutoring after school and of course we have to make sure that our teachers have their plans aligned with the state curriculum and there were covering each thing that we should cover," said Bennett.
SOL test results are released in the fall.
