The old Blacksburg Middle School site on Main Street is now pledged to Fiddler's Green Partners. It was previously owned by Montgomery County.

Blacksburg Mayor Ron Rordam said town council wants to see retail, residential and public use there. Rordam said town council wants to work with Fiddler's Green to find a development the community can be proud of.

"We've always been very clear from when we started this discussion as to the type of development we would like to see," said Mayor Rordam. "There's got to be some specificity as what it's going to look like, because that's an important gateway into Blacksburg."

Montgomery County sold the property in April for $4.25 million.
