Police searching for suspect following high speed chase

ALLEGHANY CO. (WSLS 10) - A high speed chase ended in Alleghany County Saturday morning around 1:00. According to Virginia State Police, the pursuit started on Route 311 when a trooper attempted to pull over a gray Mazda6 vehicle. The driver of the car then left the scene and started traveling east on Route 11, made a U-turn and went towards West Virginia. Sergeant Kyle Moore said the vehicle went to the town of White Sulphur Springs in West Virginia where he then turned around again and headed back towards Route 311 in Virginia.

Police eventually stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Route 311 and Tuckahoe Road. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Authorities called in a K-9 tracking dog by the Alleghany Sheriff's Office to search for the suspect.

Moore said the suspect is believed to be a male and remains on the loose.

Greenbrier County Deputies of West Virginia also assisted with the incident.
