(WSLS 10) - The Lynchburg Regional Chamber holds an economic summit today. The Virginia Chamber's State of the Commonwealth Report and a Regional Economic Update will be presented. The report examines challenges with the state's commercial airports, compares incomes and cost of living along the east coast and studies public services.

A new hotel opens today in Lynchburg. The new 98 room Comfort Inn and Suites is across from the Lynchburg Regional Airport on Wards Road. A ribbon cutting ceremony takes place this afternoon at 4 p.m. followed by an open house.

Salem Montessori School breaks ground this morning at 10:30 on its new infant and toddler campus. The new school is located near the elementary school campus. Pre-school students will help with the ground breaking as well as perform a sing-along.

If you're looking for a job, Startek in Lynchburg is hiring. The company will old an open house and job fair from from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to talk about the 430 open positions the company has. The company provides business process outsourcing services. Base pay for the positions is $9 plus performance based incentives.

Traffic will back up around the Berglund Center tonight as Kenny Rogers performs from his new Christmas album. His stop in the star city is part of his Farewell Tour. Earlier this year, he announced plans to retire from the entertainment industry. The show begins tonight at 7 p.m.

We Care of Franklin County opens its Christmas Store today for the 25th year. The Christmas Store gives parents in the program a chance to shop for gifts that they normally wouldn't be able to afford. Toy drives and donations stocked the shelves of the store. Nearly 1,800 kids will be served this year.
