Firefighters rescue two animals from house fire in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Two animals were rescued by firefighters Wednesday night after a fire broke out at a Roanoke home.

The fire happened at approximately 7:47 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at a home located in the 1600 block of Padbury Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews saw smoke showing and bystanders reporting there were animals inside.

The fire was contained to the living area with heat and smoke damage throughout the house. It was reported to be under control by 8:10 p.m. Wednesday.

A total of 27 firefighters responded to the scene. Fire officials say no one was home when the fire started.

Two animals were rescued and treated with oxygen on scene and then transported to the Emergency Veterinarian Clinic.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates are approximately $30,000.
