Vehicle fire causing heavy delays on I-81N in Roanoke County

SALEM (WSLS 10) - Drivers can expect major delays along Interstate-81 in Roanoke County after a truck caught on fire along the road Thursday afternoon.

Virginia State Police and Fort Lewis Fire Department says the vehicle caught fire at mile marker 131 on Interstate-81 northbound.

They say the fire is now out and they're now waiting for the removal of the damaged truck.

No injuries were reported.

Troopers say the right lane is closed at this time until removal of the truck can be made.

Estimated back-up is four to five miles at this time. Crews are working to open the right as soon as possible.

Description:

On I-81 at mile marker 131 in the County of Roanoke, motorists can expect major delays due to a vehicle fire. The north right lane and right shoulder are closed. Traffic backups are approximately 3.0 miles.
