The dark side of The Force is apparently still strong with an actor who played Darth Vader as a child.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Jake Lloyd, who played a young Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: EpisodeI – The Phantom Menace".

The officials in SC say he led deputies on a chase starting near Charleston on Wednesday, topping speeds of 100 miles per hour before driving off I-95.

"He resisted arrest and once handcuffed, we had trouble getting information out of him," a police spokesman told E! News. "He told police his name was Jake Broadbent. He was quiet and didn't say a lot. He was alone."

Deputies in coastal Charleston County initially tried to stop the fleeing vehicle early Wednesday afternoon, but quit chasing after the man drove into neighboring Colleton County, Sheriff's Office Major Eric Watson said Sunday.

The chase lasted for more than 25 miles before Lloyd drove off Interstate 95, plowed through a fence, and continued speeding along a parallel frontage road, authorities said. The road ended at a dead end, but the vehicle kept going into a wooded area before it hit several small trees and stopped.

Lloyd was treated for a small cut he suffered during the crash, police told The Press & Standard. His mug shot shows him with a small cut on the top of a cheek.

The man had not posted bond and remained in jail Sunday, Strickland said.

He's jailed on charges of failing to stop for officers and reckless driving.
