UPDATE: 19,000 pounds of paper were safely shredded at Monday's first Shred-A-Thon event of 2015.
(WSLS 10) -Â Identity theft is a growing issue that's not going away. Starting at the end of April and throughout the month of May, WSLS 10 and Kodiak Shredding are teaming up to help fight it.

Anything you bring to the designated locations will be shredded for free.

Four events are scheduled in various locations throughout the Commonwealth. People can drop off material to be shredded at these locations:

May 4th  - Christiansburg (NRV)
G&H Appliance
1290 Roanoke St
May 11th  - Roanoke
Shively Electric
1023 Kimball Ave NE
May 18th  - Martinsville
Martinsville Speedway
340 Speedway Rd, Ridgeway
All events will run from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.
