God's Pit Crew volunteers head out to rebuild homes for Hurricane Harvey victims

Volunteers will leave Saturday, be in Texas for two weeks

DANVILLE, Va. – God's Pit Crew volunteers are getting ready to head to Texas to help finish rebuilding homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

The volunteers will leave Saturday and will be in Texas for two weeks rebuilding four homes.

Since the hurricane, a team of God's Pit Crew volunteers in Louisiana has been working to gut the homes in preparation for being rebuilt.

God's Pit Crew's CEO, Randy Johnson, said this is something he felt the organization needed to do.

"Each story was a little bit different, but all of (the families were) just so excited, so relieved if you will, because they had no idea what they would do," Johnson said.

Volunteers are also working to rebuild a church in Chokoloskee, Florida.

God's Pit Crew has sent more than 100 tractor-trailer loads of relief supplies to hurricane victims in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean.
