Overnight fire damages home near Williamson Road

ROANOKE, Va. – Firefighters battled a house fire in a neighborhood off of Williamson Road early Tuesday morning. 

The call came in at 3:25 a.m. for a fire in the 2900 block of Cumberland Street NW, which is close to GoMart and to the Noel C. Taylor Learning Academy.

The fire was in the attic, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get it under control. 

No one was hurt, but the fire caused an estimated $60,000 in damage. 

The Red Cross is helping those who are displaced. 

Fire officials are investigating what caused the fire.Â
