GALAX – A Roanoke woman is in police custody after investigators say she stabbed a man to death at the Galax Motel on Thursday night.
Just before 10:30 p.m., police were called to the Galax Motel on East Stuart drive for reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man who had been stabbed multiple times.

Efforts to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead. Police identified the victim as Roland Clayton, Jr., 51, of Roanoke.
Yashica Dushawn Richardson Chapman, 39, is being charged with first-degree murder. She's currently being held in the New River Valley Jail.
The name and age of the victim are not being released, as police work to notifiy the family.
