Police say man arrested after confronting people

RADFORD, Va. – Police say a Radford man faces multiple charges after he confronted people outside a Radford business and claimed to have a gun.

Joseph David Sayers, 37, faces charges of abduction, assault and battery, appearing in public in an intoxicated manner, and carrying a concealed weapon after a reported incident Tuesday.

At about 11 a.m., the Radford City Police Department responded to the 300 block of West Main Street for a report that a man was approaching customers of a business and saying he had a gun.

Police found the suspect, Sayers, who was in the 400 block of West Main Street, and was taken into custody.

He is currently being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail with no bond.
